“He is an amazing chef who really understands the concept of “food is medicine”. He teaches his clients how easy (and fun!) it can be to cook at home. All of his recipes are light and healthy, and contain only natural ingredients.” Frances Konstatilakis-RD, LDN, ACSM-CPT

“It was clear from the beginning that German was not like the rest.   He is energetic, eloquent, and professional.   At the same time, young people find him very approachable and he has a presentation style that captures their interests and keeps them engaged.” David S. Sellers, Jr.-Executive Director, The John M. Barry Boys & Girls Club

“If you have an idea (or even a clue) of where you want to go, he’ll help you get there! The curriculum evolves directly from you; where you are now, and what you think you’d like to accomplish.” Steve Tylicki-Oxford, MA

“Having a chef and food coach train me in my own kitchen helped me tremendously in a several different ways:  first, it made it possible logistically for me. I could have not found the time in my already packed schedule to travel; secondly, the coaching session took place before dinnertime so my whole family was treated to an incredible feast on my lesson days; and lastly, German was able to tailor his coaching to me as an individual – he could see what equipment I needed, he could teach me things like how to sharpen my knives, and he was able to look in my refrigerator to give me guidance on increasing my efficiency in food prep and storage.  These are all things I learned from German that I didn’t even know I didn’t know!

In twelve sessions, German was able to transform me into someone who knows how to run an efficient kitchen and whip up delicious meals impromptu.  I never knew I could become that person!”

We are all eating well, and I keep track of many of the meals I prepare in my calendar.

Thank you again!

Cooking with German Lam has been an inspiration.  His energy and passion for food and life is contagious.  Since working with German,  I have transformed from someone with little to no skills in the kitchen to a more organized, confident, and happy cook.  I no longer feel the need to have a cookbook open to bake a potato or boil water!  I still use recipes but also feel confident freestyling a meal with oil, herbs, chicken stock and other cooking basics. I have learned to engage my senses while cooking.  I feel as if I am seeing, tasting, smelling, feeling, hearing food for the first time in my life.  I have learned to try new things and truly discern between what flavor, size, color, texture of foods I like and dislike.   My family and I are eating healthier and feeling more energized by our meals.  We are also saving money by not eating out as often or buying lots of pre-processed foods.  Most important, my family is reconnecting with each other each time we prepare food, food shop, or sit down to eat a meal together (as each of these things has taken on new meaning for us since working with German).   As a busy Mom of two toddlers, I love German’s concept that a 2-3 hour block of time carved out for cooking can feed my family healthy meals for the whole week.  Re-heating healthy, delicious meals on a busy weeknight is easy and yet gratifying.  I am so glad I decided to work with German, it has been a pleasure and my only regret is that I did not do it sooner. I will miss not having my coach to focus me and help me think outside of the box, but I  believe he is leaving me with the skills that will encourage me to push myself and continue to evolve as a home cook, improving my skill with time and practice.  Thank you German for opening up the world of healthy food preparation and the joy of cooking to myself and my family, we will be forever grateful.

“The food coaching I received from German has been one of the bet investments I ever made. Once I had kids, I became very aware of the difficulties of fitting in the time to cook healthy, tasty meals for the family. I often resorted to takeout or other prepared foods in a pinch. Then I tallied it up, and realized I spent over $5,000 in one year on restaurants and prepared foods – I knew I needed to figure out a different game plan.  This is where German came in. German gave me an education in the fundamentals of cooking—the techniques, the equipment, the seasonings—so that I could pick out whatever vegetable, grain and protein I had on hand, or was on sale at the grocery store, and turn that into something delicious and healthy for the family. After getting the basics down, German helped me get fancy, and prepare such things as a traditional New England clambake, an Italian feast, and a Vietnamese spread including my own homemade spring rolls. My sessions with German were also fun – he got my kids involved picking herbs and washing veggies, so that cooking has become a family activity we all feel really good about.   I’ll never need to resort to restaurants or prepared foods again with the skills to make something at home that’s tastier and healthier, at a fraction of the cost.  On a personal level, German is as delightful as he is talented, I just wish I’d found him sooner!” ”I finally feel a sense of freedom and competence in the kitchen; but most importantly, I have peace of mind knowing I can always answer the question, “what’s for dinner”!
